After making inroads in South America (see related story) Australia will now finally get a taste of the best smartphone available. Customers can get their hands on a Treo 650 from Telstra either through an outright sale or through a 12 or 18 month contract.

The Treo 650, the ideal handheld solution for the mobile professional, can be purchased from select Telstra Shops for AUS $1,199. Alternatively, customers can choose a Mobile Repayment Option (MRO) of $99.92 per month for a 12-month period, $66.61 per month for an 18-month period, or $49.96 per month for a 24-month period, on select plans.

The Treo 650 combines a fully featured quad-band mobile phone with a wide range of productivity applications, including email, organizer and web access.(1) Users also can view, edit and create Word and Excel compatible documents or access PowerPoint presentations on the go. In addition, Bluetooth(R) wireless technology allows the Treo 650 to connect wirelessly to other compatible Bluetooth devices, such as printers and headsets. Multimedia capabilities include a built-in MP3 player(2) and a digital camera that can capture still images and video that can be viewed on the vibrant color screen.
