PalmZone.net has added news aggregator functionality to automatically collect up all the Palm-related news throughout the internet and display it along with our own headlines.
You asked for it, you got it! We've added a new news aggregator feature to PalmZone.net. You can now view news from all the other Palm and PDA-related sites throughout the internet right from PalmZone.net.
The new feature uses standard RSS (Really Simple Syndication) to automatically collect up all the news from around the internet. Our system stores all these news articles in a database, so that it can group them together, sorted by post date and time.
The home page and all of the news-related pages on PalmZone.net now display the last 20 news feeds in the right-side navigation bar. This gives you a quick glimse of the news titles and what site they are from.
In addition, a whole new news feeds module has been created, that displays the article summary and how long ago the article was posted. It also allows you to page backwards through the news feeds.
We have the ability to remove redundant and off-topic news articles from the feeds as well. This will help cut down on the "noise" that is typically found with news aggregators. Of course, we'll leave all news articles related to a given event that share different information and views, but we can easily eliminate articles that don't add value.
Currently the news feeds start back from the beginning of January 2006. Over time, we will be building a large database of news articles and adding search capability. This way, no matter what it is you are looking for, you can always be assured of finding it on PalmZone.net whether we specifically covered it or not.
We hope you enjoy this new feature and find PalmZone.net even more useful for your daily Palm news and information. If you have any comments or suggestions or would like to report any bugs or oddities with the new aggregator, please let us know.
