Where the crap are the devices? Is this some weird kind of vaporware where the os exists, just noting to run it on?

A very good question, my friend! Cobalt has been out for a year now and no sign of any Cobalt devices anytime soon. See our article, palmOne's President won't even commit to releasing one in 2005!

In addition, PalmSource has announced they will be working on using Linux as a core for the Palm OS! (See our articles, PalmSource Acquires MobileSoft; Will Create Linux-Based Palm OS and Open Letters to the Palm OS and Linux Communities) So it seems Cobalt may be a bust, with no manufacturers wanting to implement it. Palm Garnet (OS5) is quite good and there seems to not be a push to get Cobalt devices out.

So it could be a while before we see anything new and these first new devices may really be running Linux with a Cobalt "skin". It could even be 2006 before we see this because there is much work for PalmSource to do on this before manufacturers could even think of using it. Expect to see this Linux Palm OS on smartphones in China before anything else.

The last reply here was 2004. It's almost 2008 and no Colbalt. 4 years!! Does anyone still think Cobalt is coming out?
