Hi nurseclaudia, and welcome to the PalmZone.net forums!
The Centro was built using the Palm Garnet OS which doesn't support either WiFi or 3G services. Supposedly, the next Palm OS (Linux) will be able to support these features. We hope. Sadly, we will have to wait to see if Palm can keep it together until this OS can make it to market - projected in 2008.
Outside of these limitations, the Centro is a very nice product though! |

Well, Garnet (Palm OS 5) does actually support Wi-Fi. The Palm TX has it. The word is that Garnet is not powerful enough to support 3G data, though.
The main reason the Centro doesn't have Wi-Fi is because it was meant to be a very low-end "feature phone" competitor. They never meant it to be a high-end model, but rather a phone that could be sold (subsidized) for $100 or even free and Palm still makes some money on it. |

Oh yeah, I have a Palm TX. Mostly use it for reference material at work. But I do use it to the full extent including the wifi feature. It sure is nice. I am definitely getting my money's worth out of mine. Perhaps palm will come up with a phone in the near future that includes wifi.
Thanks for responding |

Well... I stand corrected
I was under the understanding that it was an issue with the OS on a grander scale. My mistake. Thanks for clarifying Tim!
We're all hoping for the WiFi feature in the future from Palm... it will definitely be interesting to see what they do with the next evolution. |
