Garmin Discontinues All But One GPS PDA

Garmin has discontinued all but one GPS PDA. Only the entry-level Palm OS Garmin iQue 3000 remains. All other Palm OS and all Windows Mobile GPS PDA's are discontinued. But is the death of PDA's a self-fulfilling prophesy?

Garmin Discontinues iQue 3600 and 3200 Models

Garmin has quietly discontinued two of their four Palm OS handheld GPS units, the iQue 3600 and the iQue 3200. Still left in their line-up is the entry-level iQue 3000 and the high-end iQue 3600a that is specialized for pilots.

Symbol Ends Palm OS Licensing Agreement

Symbol, recently purchased by Motorola, has officially ended its licensing agreement for the Palm OS. Moving forward, they will be focusing on the Windows Mobile platform exclusively.

Motorola to Acquire Good Technology

Motorola, Inc. and Good Technology, Inc. have announced that the companies have signed a definitive agreement under which Motorola will acquire privately held Good Technology, a leader in enterprise mobile computing software and service. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Motorola to Acquire Symbol Technologies

Motorola, Inc. and Symbol Technologies, Inc. have announced that the two companies have signed a definitive merger agreement, under which Motorola has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding shares. Symbol's products will be the core of Motorola's Enterprise Mobility Business.

Mobile Earth has launched an innovative, java-based application for Vodafone Germany subscribers that lets you view interactive maps and get driving directions.
